About the Chamber

The Prairie du Chien Area Chamber of Commerce was formed in 1950. It is a membership based organization comprised of businesses and professionals who have joined together to serve as the “unifying force” to support the interests of commerce in the Prairie du Chien Area. The area’s economic well-being is directly related to the caliber of work done by the Chamber of Commerce.

The Chamber’s mission is to enhance the quality of life, promote and preserve local resources, and foster business growth in Prairie du Chien and the surrounding area.

Board of Directors by Voting Category

A Board of Directors governs the Chamber and is the policy making body of the Chamber. Its members represent the business and professional leadership of the community. The Board President chairs the monthly meetings, which are held on the third Tuesday of each month at noon.

A professionally trained staff manages the day-to-day operations of the organization’s business affairs and maintains all member benefits. The Executive Director reports directly to the Board of Directors.

AMBASSADORS

The Chamber has several subcommittees responsible to report activities on a monthly basis to the Board of Directors. The Ambassadors are one of these committees.

The mission of the Prairie du Chien Ambassador is to serve as the goodwill arm among the Chamber members and general public to promote awareness. They promote awareness and support for the objectives and programs of the Chamber. Ambassadors serve as official hosts/hostesses as they represent the Chamber at open houses, grand openings, ribbon cuttings, Business After 5s, and participate in parades. The Ambassadors also assist the President/CEO in recruitment and retention of members.
